Hi! Thank you for visiting my blog and I appreciate you checking this page to get to know me 🙂
I am Andrea Javier. I have been working in the corporate world for the past 7.5 years, and aiming to retire in the next 5 – 10 years. I have always felt that I’ve been living my life in the sidelines — waiting for things to happen instead of making things happen. And so, in the early months of 2018, I made the boldest decision to leave my comfort zone, my stable job and my supportive family and friends for the unknown – that is Dubai. With no definite plans and no job waiting for me on the other side of the world, I took the risk with just courage and faith in both hands.
Fast forward to the end of 2018, I have found the best job I could only wish for. A job that I enjoy and at the same time sustains my love for travel. I learned that sometimes you just have to take the scary, first step and you’ll be surprised where it will lead you.
While I cannot completely leave the corporate world yet, I am investing my free time on travelling and blogging, with the end goal of being a full time blogger/writer in the next 5 – 10 years. *fingers crossed*
Here are some facts about me:
The Blog: Dreiality Bites
I have been blogging since I was 15 years old, mostly for my personal stories and rants. It wasn’t mainstream then. I can freely write anything in the web without having to worry that someone will read it. When I started working and started traveling, I shifted my writing from personal to travel experiences.
The birth of Dreia-lity Bites was in 2014, when I was thinking of a pun that sounds good with my name: Andrea or Dreia. And the only thing I can think of was Dreia-lity Bites (The Reality Bites). A quick google search of Reality Bites, you’ll see that it means ‘bitter truth’ or ‘comes down to earth with a bang’. For me it means that the real world can be harsh and brutal. But as an optimist, I think that no matter how bad life gets there’s something good that will come out of it.
