I have been looking forward to my 30th since I was 25 as if it will magically turn me into a better and more successful human being. But I woke up feeling pretty much the same as when I was 29 - no sudden appearance of wrinkles, still not emotionally mature as I hope I’d be, no back pains so far (thank God!). ⁣
⁣
I realize how obsessed I was with linking ‘success’ with age: to have my dream job at 25, get married by 28, have kids at 30. Though it is good to have timelines for my goals, I shouldn’t be defined by it nor feel beaten up when I can’t live up to these expectations.⁣
⁣
Life ain’t some sort of Super Mario game where I need to defeat the enemies and get the flag before I get to the next level, collect as much power-ups and save the princess. Sometimes, I just need to defeat my own limiting beliefs, get as much power naps as I can and save my own self.
